I have a master’s degree, but I certainly did not get it specifically so ‘someone would hire me’. I understand my *purpose* is to lead and coach leaders – both current and up-in-coming – and to advance the Kingdom via the marketplace. The skills I learned, networks I gained, and thought-leaders I was exposed to while earning my master’s degree of Organizational Leadership gave me authority to be called a *specialist*. The methods and strategies I use to carry out my purposed (ie. my God-ordained assignment) yields proof that I *lead like a multiplier*.
In my case, having an advanced college degree is absolutely vital; but depending on YOUR purpose and what it takes for YOU to become a specialist in it, you may or may not actually need to earn a college degree.
ALWAYS check-out your end goal first, and then backwards plan. Don’t expend effort where it is not needed.
